What is the YADC?
The Young Adult Diabetes Committee (YADC) was established in January 2017. This committee comprises of young adults aged between 16-35 who live with any form of diabetes here in Perth. We warmly welcome people to contact us and be involved in the educational seminars we provide, with the hope that you may join us.
Purpose of the Committee
The Young Adult Diabetes Committee are encouraged to bring their voices, knowledge and insight together to promote awareness surrounding all forms of diabetes. The YADC will advocate changes to public policy for the benefit of people with diabetes, trial new technology, design events for the wider diabetes community in Perth and debrief their diabetes management which provides peer support.
Designing educational seminars is at the forefront of the YADC, whereby seminars will cover topics that have not been spoken about recently or at all in the wider community. These educational seminars are not only for people living with a form of diabetes but also their support personnel and at times allied health professionals.
Objectives of YADC:
Represent the voice of the young adult/ adult population who live with diabetes, regardless of the type/form.
Raise issues that have been noted for young adults/ adults living with diabetes.
Engage in active, effective and collaborative communication.
Share previous knowledge and experience.
